Fleet Foxes at Surly Brewing Festival Field

TUES. 8/2 7 PM. $50. 18+.

The music of folk-indie legends Fleet Foxes can feel like a refuge. Their sound, anchored by frontman Robin Pecknold, is calm and wandering, full of aching melodies and myth-conjuring imagery. Shore is the latest album from the Seattle-based band, produced in 2021. Fun fact: The music had been sitting half-written for a while and in 2020 Pecknold found himself without a safe studio space to use, so he resorted to driving around for hours, writing lyrics in his car. One imagines the outdoors is Fleet Foxes’ natural habitat (they dropped Shore on the Autumnal Equinox), and Surly’s Festival Field stage provides the open air venue we seek.
