Sherwin Linton: The Johnny Cash Story

Minnesota country legend Sherwin Linton celebrates his 84th birthday at Crooners by paying tribute to one of his great friends, The Man In Black. Though he is careful to make the distinction between buddies (see 1971’s Hello, I’m Not Johnny Cash), Linton is certainly on this state’s Mount Rushmore of country artists. A 2001 inductee into the MN Music Hall of Fame, Linton, accompanied by his wife Pam and band The Cotton Kings, still plays dozens of dates a year and remains an absolute treasure. Bonus: Local vinyl cratediggers would do well to try to find his 45 of 1986 tune ‘Santa Got a DWI.’ FRI 7/28, 8 PM, $30/$40, All Ages
