Already at the forefront of new music theater, Theater Latté Da goes even further with their New Work Festival, a showcase of three works that may not be entirely new, but do stretch the boundaries of musical storytelling. Audience members get an early opportunity at each of the pieces: Scotland, PA, a combo of the film and Shakespeare; The Last Babushka, inspired by elder women living illegally in villages inside Chernobyl’s Exclusion Zone; Johnny Schicchi, an adaptation of Puccini’s one act comic opera by local notables Bradley Greenwald and Steven Epp. Even more, an in-depth conversation with the playwrights, composers, and lyricists follows each performance.
