Driven by a devotion to the sonic afterlife, memory, and material curiosity, “one of the most exciting young composers in North America” (The Guardian), Kara-Lis Coverdale makes her Upper Midwest debut at The Great Northern 2022. Her dynamic work explores genre-defying electronic music that weaves together several musical systems and languages—encapsulating a post-instrument virtual world of sound. She is a recipient of Canada’s “Promising Young Artist” Award presented by Ann Southam and has held residencies with GRM Paris, EMS Stockholm, FUGA Zaragoza, and more, and has performed live all over the world at institutions such as The Barbican, Théâtre du Châtelet, AGO, MAC Montreal, Teatro Circo, Kraftwerk, and Elbphilharmonie.
