Phil Adamo presents The Medievalist: A Novel

TUES. 9/6 7 PM. Free.

Readers of the new novel from the multi-talented author Phil Adamo—founder and director of Augsburg’s nationally recognized Medieval Studies Program—can be forgiven if they go into the book thinking it’s an actual slice of history more than a tall tale. The Medievalist follows two fictional grad students taking on the white supremacists who have ‘weaponized’ the Middle Ages, brandishing medieval symbols on their signs and shields, a trend not so fictional these days. Adamo will launch the book at Magers & Quinn and discuss its pressing connection to the present-day issues of racism and white supremacy, the uses and abuses of the past, and the responsibilities of academia.
