Paprika

The Trylon’s Satoshi Kon series continues with Paprika. Beginning in manga and progressing into animation, Satoshi Kon explored the blurred barriers of fiction and reality. In wildly imaginative stories, Kon pushed the boundaries of what cinema could do. Because of his tragic death at 46, we only have these four features from the acclaimed filmmaker. In the classic Paprika, a dream terrorist has stolen the DC mini, a device that allows them to enter into people’s minds. Dr. Chiba (Hayashibara) must assume her dream persona, Paprika, to stop the nightmare. In development for nearly a decade, Paprika is Kon’s masterpiece. SUN-TUES, 7+9 PM. $8.
