KFAI’s 24-Hour Metal Tribute to Earl Root

We listened so much Earl Root that we can still hear his voice ringing around in our head, “It’s six . . . six . . . six minutes past midnight and that means it’s time for The Root of All Evil here on KFAI.” Earl, a steadfast pillar of the local metal music scene and radio station, passed away much too early, but his legacy (The Root of All Evil first aired in 1987!) still lives on in the show and the station. And to pay him tribute, as well as raise money for the indispensable community radio station, the crews of KFAI’s excellent metal shows will be taking over KFAI for 24 hours ALL DAY THURSDAY with interviews, guest hosts, and more. Tune in at 90.3 FM or 106.7 FM or streaming online at kfai.org and be sure to donate!
