Join the UMN’s Department of English and two lauded Indigenous American poets as they examine and share contemporary Native American poetry. Oglala Lakota Nation native Layla Long Soldier, a multi-award winning poet and Graywolf-published author, converses with Joy Harlo, writer and musician of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. They meet on the heels of Harlo’s departure after her unprecedented three terms as U.S. Poet Laureate. The discussion is moderated by the Department of American Indian Studies’ Associate Professor Christopher Pexa and will feature excerpts from both poets’ works, followed by a book signing.
