Father John Misty at the Palace

FRI-SAT. 9/30-9/31 8 PM. $45. 18+.

Josh Tillman’s newest album Chloe and the Next 20th Century takes a stylistic turn from his previous records, if not wholly abandoning his wry and sarcastic approach to how people move through the world. Mini-narratives are scattered throughout the songs, crafting love and lost-lost tales against the backdrop of grand Golden Age jazz and swing-inspired arrangements. His homage to Hollywood rock is fitting for the Palace, where regal theater vibes and contemporary technology collide. He’s joined by Suki Waterhouse, a London-born singer-songwriter who also infuses vintage sounds into her sultry, languid voice.
