For a more refined entrance into the new year, attend the Minnesota Orchestra’s New Year’s Celebration. Guest conductor Marin Alsop, the first woman to be named music director of a major American orchestra, will conduct Bernstein’s ‘Overture to Candide,’ Montgomery’s ‘Rounds for Piano and String Orchestra,’ and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. The concert will play both New Year’s Eve and Day, however, the Dec. 31 show will include a countdown to midnight, some vintage jazz from Belle Amour, and complimentary champagne.
