The MCBA Prize presented by the Minnesota Center for Book Arts gathers the international book arts community to award an artist for excellence in this unique expression of creativity. Book art is an art form that ranges from papermaking, to letterpress printing, to bookbinding, and other “methods of artmaking inspired by the form and function of books.” Five finalists were selected from 154 entries across the world. Finalist Savannah Bustillo is based in Minneapolis. Her submission layers cue cards and handmade books screen printed onto old car repair manuals. It is a multilingual installation, exploring grammar and the history of language.
