Yola

FRI. 9/9 8 PM. $27.50. 18+.

Yola, the British country singer whose songs are confidence-boosting, soulful and sonorous, is set to take the First Ave Mainroom after February’s schedule fell through. Her songs are the sort that makes everything else fade away, all rolling melodies and powerful lyrics. The show will highlight her latest album Stand For Myself, which was produced by Dan Auerbach and is a delightfully versatile album that runs from ballad to protest anthem to melancholy croon. While it leans into soul, she maintains the twang and rhythm that she’s honed at her Nashville base. She’s joined by Jac Ross, a Florida-based artist whose songs carry charges for social change and smooth vocals.
