In an attempt to seem mature, fans of ‘90s and early ‘00s pop-punk and third-wave ska often discuss their favorite genre with a hint of embarrassment. The Von Tramps won’t hear of it. The band, often decked out in checkerboard patterns, unapologetically brings pop-punk into the 2020s with beach balls and call-and-response jams. Opening for them will be local ska-punk band Goodbye Mordecai, whose bouncy percussion and upstrokes will have you skanking to your heart’s content. The show promises to be energetic and pure fun, just like the Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtracks that filled up middle school brains back in the day.
