The prolific and ever-droll Stephen Merritt and his fellow Magnetic Fields visit the Fitzgerald Theater for an evening celebrating the band’s three decades of existence and the release of a vinyl edition of their 1992 EP The House of Tomorrow, which commemorates its 20th anniversary. This is a twice-rescheduled show, so their return is exciting for multiple reasons. With plans to play songs from across the Magnetic Fields’ discography, the evening will explore the band’s evolution of sound and Merritt’s versatile repertoire and clever lyricism. They’re joined by opener Jake Xeroxes Fussell, who re-envisions folk music by setting traditional topics and language to his unique voice and sound. SAT, 8 PM. $39.50+.
