Since forming in the 1980s, the hard rock band The Cult has (fortunately) never mellowed out. At their 2014 show at Coachella, no one expected the explosive display of gothic rock that Rolling Stone called “the Messianic moment of Coachella.” The group comes to the Palace this weekend on their We Own The Night tour with one new album since that iconic show. Revered for its powerful vocals à la Ian Astbury and layered storytelling, Hidden City has been hailed as a metaphor for “revolt of the self and soul.” Get there on time to catch opening performances from American rock band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and gothic singer/songwriter Zola Jesus.
