Unfortunately known more globally for her shaved head and pope-pic tearing on SNL—and here locally for making it big on a better version of a Prince song, no easy feat—Sinead O’Connor’s fearless trailblazing finally receives its proper due in the new documentary Nothing Compares. The film, making its Minnesota premiere thanks to Sound Unseen’s movies about music series, uses poetic recreation, sharp-tongued archival interviews, indelible moments of culture-making, and O’Connor’s own narration to tell her tale of activism, out-spokeness, celebrity culture, and intense talent.
