Head to the West Bank to explore the art exhibitions of the current Soomaal Fellows: Featured in the Augsburg Art Galleries, Khadija Charif and Yasmin Yassin’s deeply personal art focuses on their experiences as Somali women in Minneapolis. Through her pieces, Charif explores secrecy in us all and the human urge to wish for acceptance. Yassin reflects on becoming a mother amidst COVID lockdowns as well as her Somali background. The exhibition comes out of a partnership between Augsburg Galleries and the Soomaal House of Art, designed to use art as a tool for civic engagement by advocating for the development of Somali visual artists.
