Monica LaPlante + Muun Baato

FRI. 12/16 9 PM. $12. 21+.
Minneapolis-based singer Monica LaPlante blends indie, punk, pop, and rock to tell stories that are dark, raw, and honest. Her 2013 debut Jour was her foray into the world of garage pop, using energetic and hard-hitting lyrics. Her 2017 album, Noir, reflects the title–darker, jagged, and angrier in the “I’m going to f-ing do this and it’ll work” kind of way. Remember Christy Costello at Palmer’s Bar from the November issue? She plays bass for Monica LaPlante, so this is a prime opportunity to come out again if you liked her sound. After being voted one of the best new bands of 2019 by First Avenue, special guest Muun Bato and their mix of psychedelic rock of the flower-child era, shoegaze, and dreampop is a don’t-miss. Flawless vibes.
