Besides his bass duties in The Dexateens and Drive-By Truckers, AND running the Mississippi-based label Dial Back Sound, Matt Patton has strapped on the guitar and fronted Model Citizen on and off for the last 25 years. More like The Who or a southern Hüsker Dü than say, Skynyrd, the band laid down a set of classic material to tape for the just-released Live at Dial Back Sound. It just so happens Minneapolis’ own Eleganza released last year’s excellent Water Valley High on Patton’s label, showcasing their increasingly varied songwriting style. The band just returned from a jaunt of its own and will be road ready for tonight. Opening the evening are locals Big Salt, who have been tearing up Twin Cities’ stages the past couple of years, and are fresh off a performance at the Mid West Music Festival. Get there early for this powerful quartet and you’ll hit your recommended triple dose of rock for the weekend. FRI 6/16, 8:30, $15, 21+
