For several years each winter, Trollhaugen has hosted Twin Cities bands for their late night music series in the Skolhaugen Lounge. Friday night is a classic pairing of Minnesota rock with Cindy Lawson and The Heavy Sixers. Lawson, former singer of The Clams, has roared back these past few years after some time away from music. She’s commanded stages (and sometimes bar tops!) on an almost monthly basis lately and her crack band is along for the rocking renaissance. The Sixers are fresh off their new double single release, appropriately titled…Double Single. It’s a reasonably heavy dose of guitars, drums, and harmonies that has them sitting in the back of Dave Pirner’s class, taking notes, but also getting in trouble for passing them. The bands are not just sharing this bill on the ski slopes, but also a drummer in Mark Devaraj, one of the most prolific percussionists in town.
