As your friends who understand the technical aspects of guitar-playing would probably be more than glad to tell you, Kaki King is where it’s at. Rolling Stone declared her one of the world’s “new guitar gods” back in 2006, and she’s done nothing to disprove that title in the years since. Her mastery of multiple guitars and styles combine with her increasingly elaborate multimedia stage shows to create a one-of-a-kind live music experience. King’s “Modern Yesterdays” tour, coming to the Dakota this Tuesday, finds her using guitar, drums, and a visual art style she calls “guitar-projection mapping” to explore the difficult landscape of our collective recent history. TUES. 7 PM. $30-40.
