Gerstein Plays Rachmaninoff

THURS-FRI. 1/5-1/6 various times. $45+.
Right before Kirill Gerstein was scheduled to play Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos with the Minnesota Orchestra, the pandemic hit, and we all know what happened next. While Gerstein gave a magnificent performance via radio that year, he’s back to perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 live. The program also includes Coleridge-Taylor’s Solemn Prelude which was originally performed in 1899, however the orchestral score was lost until they were rediscovered in 2021. The concert closes out with Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky.
