After rescheduling the gig from last September, alternative noise rockers Dinosaur Jr. will finally take the First Avenue mainstage. The band gained prominence in the ‘80s for their distinct brand of indie rock and along with The Pixies, is seen as responsible for bringing lead guitar back to the genre. Throughout their decades-long career as a band, Dinosaur Jr. has taken many forms, from a powerhouse original trio to a solo vehicle for lead singer J Mascis to a reunion of the original lineup in 2006. Now, the band is back to share their latest record, 2021’s Sweep It Into Space. Get to the gig early to catch opener Riley Walker play his ‘90s alternative-influenced tunes.
