Custer Had It Coming!

Gear up for an afternoon celebrating Indigenous artists who lead acts of resilience and resistance through artistic expression. Custer Had It Coming! features performances from six poets, writers, and hip hop artists. Writers include Annastacia Cardon from the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, who is a poet and fiction writer currently working on a fantasy novel; Teresa Peterson, Utuhu Cistinna Win, Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota, a writer and children’s book author; performance poet and Birchbark Books Events Coordinator Anthony Ceballos of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, and Bay Quaderer, poet from the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe. Two hip hop artists are attending as well: Native Son, bdewankanton Dakota and Hopi, a frequenter on the Twin Cities DJ scene, and hip hop artists Tall Paul, Leech Lake Ojibwe, who raps in both English and Anishinaabemowin. Poet and writer Zibiuah of the Potawatomi and Ho-Chunk Nations emcees the event. SUN. 2-5 PM. Free.
