SAT. 4/1 6 PM. Free. All ages.
Prolific poet Ray Gonzalez presents his latest collection, Suggest Paradise, which turns its focus to place, exploring the Southwest and borderland spaces. Gonzalez, born in El Paso and now a retired professor at the University of Minnesota, often meditates on family, landscape, and U.S.-Mexico dynamics in his work, and Suggest Paradise threads these topics with the contemporary events and preoccupations that have arisen in Texas. He is joined by a panel of creative writing professors, professionals, and students, including Merle Geode, José Felipe Ozuna, Kathryn Savage, and Michael Torres. Publisher Milkweed hosts the event at their Washington Avenue bookstore, inviting poem and book perusal before or after the reading.
