Originally inspired by the band’s book club dedicated to reading a multitude of philosophers, BODEGA’s latest album dives into how external factors help shape who we are. Despite the heavy topics, the music on Xtra Equipment itself is upbeat, fast-paced and addictive. Their storytelling ability (fun fact—Ben and Nikki of the group are also the filmmakers behind 2020’s erotic drama PVT Chat) comes through their lyrics as they paint a picture of modern day New York, covering everything from the band itself to the origin of the city. Back on the topic of book clubs, the multi-genre seven-piece band, Alien Book Club, starts the night.
