Some of the best music comes from the combination of living in a small town and listening to punk music. At least, that’s the story of the Black Lips. Formed with a mutual love of bands such as the Ramones and the Stooges—and with free time brought from all getting kicked out of school—Black Lips got their start in small venues across Atlanta. Fifteen years later, the band has released eight studio albums and made a name for themselves as an electrifying live act. By playing what could be described as “flower punk,” the band has cultivated a dedicated fan base and played on nearly every continent. (Before you say Metallica did it first, Black Lips would beg to differ.)
