Alejandro Escovedo

A true original from the pre-cow punk days through whatever is dubbed Americana these days, Alejandro Escovedo is a songwriter of the highest order. From his Bloodshot Records-era masterpieces through 2018’s The Crossing, his music has evolved and shifted with the dry, Texas winds. As a member of the True Believers and Rank and File, he laid the tracks for the 1990s alt-country boom, and even before that, his pioneering San Francisco punk band The Nuns opened the final Sex Pistols show at Winterland. A recent inductee into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, Escovedo hails from an incredibly musical family—perhaps you’ve also heard of his niece, Sheila E.? The Dakota has become his local haunt these days. What more is there to say? Go see the man! FRI 6/2, 7 PM, $50-$60, All Ages
