The gloves are coming off at the Underground Music Cafe, as 16 comics battle it out for the title of Underground Roast Battle Champion. Host Emma Dalenberg has created a unique, can’t-miss comedy fixture, where contestants are placed into a one-night, single-elimination tournament, complete with big(ish) cash prizes, celebrity judges and more. Now in it’s fourth installment, the Underground Roast Battle succeeds because it’s less about absolutely scorching the competition on a personal level, and more about just how talented the comics can be when it comes to writing burns that are more clever than cringy. This week’s judges include comics Joey Hamburger, Lily Meyer and reigning champion, Elliot McVey, plus live music from Alien Book Club, Fanaka Nation and BeatGeneration.
