Renowned Conductor Xian Zhang will make her long-awaited return to Minneapolis to help Orchestra Hall welcome the season of renewal and much-awaited warmth. The Music Director of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony will kick off the concerts with Qigang Chen’s L’eloignement for String Orchestra. The piece is inspired by a Chinese proverb and the power of renewal and rebirth. Then Carl Nielson’s Flute Concerto will be performed by Principal Flute and active triathlete Adam Kuenzel. The nights will conclude with some cinematic nostalgia that will have everyone reminiscing: Tchaikovsky’s Suite from The Sleeping Beauty. FRI-SAT. $30-99.
