Renowned Conductor Xian Zhang will make her long-awaited return to Minneapolis to help Orchestra Hall welcome the season of renewal and much-awaited warmth. The Music Director of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony will kick off the concerts with Qigang Chen’s L’eloignement for String Orchestra. The piece is inspired by a Chinese proverb and the power of renewal and rebirth. Then Carl Nielson’s Flute Concerto will be performed by Principal Flute and active triathlete Adam Kuenzel.
