UPDATE: Friday’s show at Palace Theatre is moving to Sunday, April 24 at First Avenue. Tickets will be valid, hang on to those.
To record Lucifer on the Sofa, the latest album by rock-and-roll savants Spoon, the band returned to Austin, Texas—their place of origin. Songwriting was influenced by interactions with the city–immersion in a place that celebrates musical experimentation—and the result is an album that is one of the band’s more pared back records, though still full of tight instrumentals and compelling lyrics. Frontman Britt Daniel explained the album was concepted to embody the elements of a live show with first-take vibes, so seeing Spoon play in person at the Palace is the best way to experience it. The gorgeously gravely Margaret Glaspy opens. SUN, 8 PM. $39.50-75.
