It’s time to hit the stacks at the Red Wing Cultural Center. While It has been building community through the power of art since the ’50s, it’s now expanding to literary arts: The Clay and Creative Center is hosting its first annual literary salon, featuring Minnesota authors John Jodzio, Molly Sutton Kiefer, Michelle Meyer, and Jacqueline West.

Literary scene stalwart John Jodzio is celebrating hisCreative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board for 2022 and releasing his chapbook, This is the Decade I Kept Getting Stabbed. Jodzio, who has appeared in McSweeney’s, New York Magazine, and on This American Life has also written the short story collections Knockout, Get In If You Want To Live, and If You Lived Here You’d Already Be Home.

The evening will also feature readings from Michelle Meyer, whose poems have appeared in numerous literary magazines and who will soon release a collection of poems titled The Trouble with Being a Childless Only Child; Molly Sutton Kiefer, who is the author of the lyric essay Nestuary, and founder of the Tinderbox Poetry Journal and director of Tinderbox Editions; and Jacqueline West, author of The New York Times-bestselling series The Books of Elsewhere and the Minnesota Book Award-winning Long Lost.

The salon will feature discussion among the authors about their craft and readings from their respective works.

The Red Wing Literary Salon is made possible by Minnesota voters through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, with the help of legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
